An Evening of Jordanian Musical Heritage
As part of the series of cultural and heritage programs organized by Jordan Heritage Organization and Wings of Hope Society, a Jordanian Heritage Musical event with Professor Dr. Mohammad Ghawnameh was held on Monday, 28 September 2026, at the Jordan Heritage space in Jabal Weibdeh.
Dr. Ghawnameh holds a PhD in Arabic Heritage Music and has previously served as Dean of several faculties of music and the arts in Jordan. He has authored numerous academic publications, books, and research papers in the field of music. He has also supervised the collection and documentation of Jordanian traditional songs and has presented a number of musical programs on radio and television.
Dr. Ghawnameh was accompanied on the oud by musician Mahmoud Al-Hamadneh. Together, they engaged the participants with stories and musical traditions from Jordanian heritage, highlighting how ancestors expressed their experiences and emotions through poetry and songs during joyful and sorrowful occasions, as well as during the rainy and harvest seasons and other important daily and occasions in community life.
Participants joined in singing melodies from Jordan’s rich musical heritage, which is deeply rooted in meaning, wisdom, and valuable lessons. The evening was distinguished by Dr. Ghawnameh’s engaging storytelling style and his evident passion for Jordanian music and heritage, which captured the attention and interest of those in attendance.
The audience included young musicians and tourist guides, who expressed their appreciation to Wings of Hope Society and Jordan Heritage Organization for such activities. They highlighted the value of these programs in enriching knowledge and general cultural awareness, while encouraging greater appreciation and protection of Jordan’s tangible and intangible heritage and its transmission to younger generations.
