Discussion panel, Doctoral dissertation by student Yasmine Al-Issa 8/18/2024

On Sunday, August 18, 2024, Wings of Hope Society and the Petra National Trust hosted doctoral student Yasmine Al Issa, who specializes in applied psychology (clinical psychology) from Zhejiang University in China. Student Yasmine Al-Issa from Ma’an Governorate, approached Wings of Hope Society whose goals include empowering youth, especially women. The student is preparing for her doctoral thesis entitled “The concept of the ideal woman and its impact on the psychological health of women (the multi-tasking woman). One of the requirements of this thesis is that the student conduct discussion circles in the north, center and south of the Kingdom to discuss the subject of the thesis. Wings of Hope Society organized this meeting and invited a group of women with psychological, academic, professional and volunteer work experience. The meeting took place in Beit Yaish (the headquarters of the Petra National Trust) who graciously hosted the event and introduced the participants to the mission and activities of the Petra National Trust in the preservation of Petra.

The concept of the “ideal woman,” which includes the pressures and expectations placed on women to play multiple roles simultaneously, has been discussed with different points of view given the diversity of the participants. This study aims to explore the concept and qualities of an ideal woman and explore the psychological impact on women and the expectations associated with this concept, in addition to examining the methods that women follow to manage the requirements of this role and improve their quality of life in general.
